Swiss Tightens Cockpit Security

Swiss Enhances Cockpit Security
New Regulations in Effect
Swiss, the Switzerland-based airline, has implemented a new measure to enhance cockpit security as of May 1. According to a company statement, the decision comes in response to a negative trend in safety conditions in recent years.
Under the new regulation, there must be at least two crew members present in the aircraft whenever the cockpit door is opened. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized individuals from approaching the cockpit. Swiss officials stated, “When a crew member enters the cockpit, the other crew member actively monitors the cabin area to ensure that passengers are not approaching the cockpit.”
ℹ️ In the United States, security regulations are becoming even stricter. Starting this summer, new aircraft entering service in the U.S. will be required to have a physical barrier consisting of a fixed secondary door installed in front of the cockpit.
