Su-30MKI Fighter Jet Crashes in India

A Sukhoi Su-30MKI crashed in northeastern India during a training flight. Contact with the aircraft, operated by the Indian Air Force, was lost late Thursday evening.

The jet had taken off from Jorhat Air Force Station for a training mission and disappeared from radar shortly thereafter. Following search operations, the wreckage was located in the Karbi Anglong district, approximately 60 kilometers from Jorhat.

The Indian Air Force confirmed that Squadron Leader Anuj and Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar were killed in the crash. An investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
