Star Alliance Expands as ITA Airways Joins in 2026

Italy’s national carrier ITA Airways has officially begun the process of joining Star Alliance. Following approval from the Star Alliance Executive Board, the integration process is now underway, with the airline set to become a full member in early 2026. This development follows ITA Airways’ entry into the Lufthansa Group earlier this year.

Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias stated, “We expect ITA Airways to join our alliance as a full member in early 2026. This decision reflects the trust our members place in ITA Airways.”

With ITA Airways’ inclusion, Star Alliance will grow to 26 member airlines, connecting 192 countries with over 18,000 flights daily.
