Spirit Airlines Recalls All Furloughed Pilots Ahead of Summer Season

US-based low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has announced that it will recall all 511 pilots currently on unpaid leave in preparation for the upcoming summer travel season.

According to the company’s statement, the recall process will begin following a voluntary return procedure. Pilots have been asked to respond to the call by 23 March 2026. Official notices will be issued on 8 April 2026, and pilots are expected to report for duty within 30 days of receiving their notification.

Returning pilots will be assigned based on seniority across three main bases:

45% to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

35% to Orlando International Airport (MCO)

20% to LaGuardia Airport (LGA)

The airline also stated that pilots must complete Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approval along with required security and medical screenings before returning to active duty.
