Spirit Airlines management has announced that all pilot layoffs planned for the first quarter of 2026 have been canceled.
The company had previously stated that 365 pilots would be laid off and that 170 captains would be downgraded in rank.
Following further evaluation, the company decided to completely cancel the layoffs and reduce the number of captain downgrades to 25.
Additionally, it was stated that the Las Vegas (LAS) pilot base will be downsized, and instead of layoffs, pilots will be transferred to the Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Newark (EWR) bases.
