Spirit AeroSystems Reports Over $2 Billion Loss

Before being acquired by Boeing, Spirit AeroSystems announced its financial results, revealing a loss of more than $2 billion in the first nine months of 2025, including a $724 million loss in the third quarter alone. Company officials attributed the growing losses to increased production costs for Boeing 737 and 787 models, as well as Airbus A220, A320, and A350 programs.

Despite the financial pressure, the company managed to increase its production volume, delivering 392 aircraft components in the third quarter of 2025, compared to 332 during the same period last year. Spirit also delivered 90 Boeing 737 fuselages during this period, surpassing the previous year’s total of 64.

As part of its agreement with Airbus, Spirit’s assets related to its European programs will be transferred. Accordingly, Airbus will take over production facilities associated with the A220, A320neo, and A350 programs. Additionally, Spirit plans to sell its Subang facility in Malaysia for $95 million.
