Social Media Requirement in U.S. Visa Applications

For U.S. student visa applications, it has been stated that the social media accounts from the past five years—required in the DS‑160 form—must be set to public.

Having private accounts or not sharing content at all may result in visa denial or postponement of the interview. Officials will screen the accounts for signs of “hostility toward the U.S., terrorist affiliations, or antisemitic content.”
