American ultra-low-cost airline Frontier Group Holdings announced in an official statement that current CEO Barry L. Biffle has stepped down from his role, and company president James G. Dempsey has been appointed as chief executive officer. This change took effect as of December 15, 2025.
After leading the company for years, Biffle is handing over his duties following an 11-year tenure as CEO. It was stated that Biffle will remain with the company as an advisor until the end of the year, during which time he will support the new management. Chairman of the Board Bill Franke thanked Biffle for his role in the company’s growth and transformation process.
Newly appointed James G. Dempsey has held financial and strategic positions at Frontier for many years. He joined the company in 2014 as chief financial officer and later served as president. The board stated that Dempsey is the right leader to guide Frontier through its new strategic phase.
The company also confirmed that its fourth-quarter 2025 results will be in line with previously announced expectations. This move was taken as part of Frontier’s goal to ensure financial and operational stability.
This change comes at a time when competition in the budget airline segment and overall industry dynamics are intensifying. Frontier aims for sustainable growth with its expanding route network and Airbus A320neo family fleet.
