The single runway at Phuket International Airport was temporarily closed following an incident involving an aircraft operated by Air India Express.
According to reports, the airline’s Flight IX938, operated by a VT-BWQ registered Boeing 737 MAX 8, sustained damage to its nose landing gear during landing in Phuket.
The aircraft touched down at 04:24 UTC, and images shared on social media showed the aircraft stopped on the runway with visible damage to the nose gear.
A NOTAM issued after the incident indicated that the airport’s only runway would remain closed until 11:00 UTC, temporarily disrupting operations at the airport.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident while airport operations were affected during the runway closure.
