Preliminary Report Released on ACT Cargo Accident in Hong Kong 🛫

The Hong Kong Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) has released the preliminary report on the ACT Cargo accident that occurred on 20 October 2025 at Hong Kong International Airport, which resulted in the deaths of two airport workers. The report states that the accident happened due to loss of control after landing, followed by a runway excursion.

According to initial findings from the flight data recorder, immediately after touchdown, maximum reverse thrust was commanded on engines 1, 2, and 3, but engine 4 failed to enter reverse mode. The report also notes that engine 1’s reverse thrust increased later than expected, which is considered to have contributed to the loss of control. AAIA indicated that the aircraft’s left deviation and runway excursion may be linked to this asymmetric engine condition.
