Pilot Makes Emergency Landing on Busy Highway in Brazil After Engine Failure

In the Garuva region of Santa Catarina, Brazil, a single-engine Flyer Pelican 500BR aircraft experienced an engine failure. The pilot managed to safely land the plane on the 15th kilometer of the BR-101 highway, one of the country’s busiest roads. Only the pilot and the aircraft owner were on board.

The flight was en route from Guaramirim to Porto Alegre–Rio Grande do Sul. Shortly after takeoff, the engine malfunctioned, prompting the pilot to calmly guide the aircraft through heavy traffic on the highway and land without incident. No injuries were reported.

The aircraft’s wings were later removed, and it was transported from the site by truck.
