Person Detained for False Bomb Threat at San Diego Airport

Due to a false bomb threat, passengers were evacuated from Hawaiian Airlines flight #HAL15, scheduled for May 20 from San Diego to Honolulu, operated by an Airbus A330 with registration N395HA. Following the incident, a 35-year-old military personnel was identified and taken into custody for making a fake bomb threat.
According to officials, the individual falsely informed a flight attendant that a fellow passenger was carrying a bomb. As a result, all passengers were evacuated from the aircraft and transported to a secure area by bus.
Authorities conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and luggage but found no threat. After approximately a six-hour delay, passengers were reboarded and the flight proceeded as planned.
The individual responsible will be prosecuted for “False Bomb Threat” and “False Security Threat Notification” under the relevant section of the San Diego Airport Security Regulations. Officials emphasized that making a false bomb threat is a serious offense that can result in up to one year in prison and a fine.
