NTSB Releases Preliminary Report on United 737 Ground Collision in Denver

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its preliminary report on the March 6, 2026 ground collision involving a United Airlines Boeing 737-824 and two deicing vehicles at Denver International Airport. According to the report, the aircraft, registered as N27213 and preparing to operate a flight to Nashville, struck two Vestergaard Elephant Beta deicing trucks while taxiing out of the deicing pad. None of the 2 pilots, 4 flight attendants, or 130 passengers on board were injured, while one ground worker sustained minor injuries.

According to the NTSB, the flight crew stated that they had received the post-deicing briefing and began taxiing after obtaining taxi clearance from air traffic control. However, they were later informed that they had not yet been cleared to exit the deicing pad area. The report states that the aircraft’s left wing struck truck MAG 94, while the right wing hit truck MAG 95, causing one of the vehicles to overturn onto its side.

A post-incident inspection found damage to the aircraft’s left winglet, left wing lower skin, right wing lower skin, and right aileron. The NTSB said the aircraft sustained substantial damage and confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
