Lufthansa’s special livery fleet prepared for its 100th anniversary, which previously began with the Boeing 787-9 (D-ABPU) and the Airbus A320neo (D-AING), has expanded with the arrival of the Airbus A350-900 (D-AIXL) in Munich. As part of the German airline’s planned “complete collection,” deliveries of an Airbus A380, a Boeing 747-8, and the first Airbus A350-1000 to join the fleet are also expected.
Meanwhile, a previously undisclosed development has revealed that another specially painted aircraft, named “Parabola,” will join the fleet. The Airbus A321ceo (D-AISZ), painted in Norwich, recalls the A321 registered D-AIRX, which operated with a similar design between 2005 and 2014.
A notable detail is the background of this livery. The design was originally created in 2005 under the name “50th Anniversary Retro” to mark the 50th anniversary of Lufthansa’s reestablishment in 1955. After 21 years, the same concept is being reused for the airline’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
