Main Landing Gear Tire Separates During Landing on T’way Air Aircraft

A Boeing 737-8GJ aircraft operated by T’way Air experienced a landing gear issue during its landing at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, when a tire on the right main landing gear separated. As a result of the incident, the airport’s north runway was temporarily closed, causing disruptions to 14 flights.
According to a statement by the airport operator, the aircraft, arriving from Jeju Island, experienced the issue during touchdown on the north runway. The aircraft subsequently taxied to parking stand A2 in accordance with safety procedures and was brought to a stop. No injuries were reported.
Authorities stated that the incident was reported to the Civil Aviation Administration, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board in line with applicable regulations. Investigations into the technical cause of the incident will be conducted by the relevant authorities.
