The Lufthansa Group plans to part ways with around 4,000 employees by 2030 in an effort to cut costs and increase efficiency. According to the company, this figure represents roughly 4% of its total workforce. The layoffs will primarily affect administrative units and will mostly impact employees based in Germany.
Lufthansa’s management stated that the decision aims to improve efficiency in operational processes, accelerate decision-making mechanisms, and strengthen collaboration within the group. The company also emphasized that this transformation will be supported by digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence.
Lufthansa noted that the move is an important step for long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
