Lufthansa flight LH481, operating the Denver–Munich route, was halted during takeoff with a high-speed abort. The flight, operated with Airbus A350-900 registered D-AIVD, was preparing to depart Denver Airport (DEN) for Munich when the takeoff was stopped at approximately 173 knots.
The aircraft came to a safe stop, and due to high temperatures in the braking system, “thermal plugs” were activated, causing the tires to deflate. Passengers were evacuated via stairs and transported back to the terminal by buses after technical checks.
Preliminary assessments suggested the incident might be related to a potential windshear warning caused by strong tailwinds, although no official statement has been released.
