Long Security Waits at Atlanta Airport Amid U.S. Government Crisis

Ongoing government funding issues in the United States have led to long security lines at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world.
The shortage of personnel from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)—who are responsible for airport security—has significantly increased waiting times at security checkpoints after many staff members were unable to receive their salaries during the crisis.
Officials stated that at certain times security lines have stretched into terminal corridors, prompting travelers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flights.
Authorities also warned that the ongoing partial government shutdown in the United States could continue to affect air travel nationwide, particularly during busy travel periods, potentially leading to additional delays at major airports.
