Laser Pointed at Helicopter in Tampa: 13-Year-Old Suspect Taken into Custody

Last month in Tampa, a helicopter belonging to the Hillsborough Police was targeted with a laser while in flight. Following the guidance of the aircrew, authorities traced the laser to the location of 13-year-old suspect Angel Lacen, who was taken into custody. The suspect was handed over to authorities to face charges of “Improper Use of a Laser Illuminating Device.”

Officials emphasized that pointing lasers at airplanes or helicopters can pose serious dangers, as it can obstruct the pilots’ vision and endanger both the crew and public safety.
