Jet A-1 Fuel Price Reduced in Bangladesh Following Turkish Airlines’ Initiative

After months of active dialogue and advocacy led by Turkish Airlines (THY) in Bangladesh, the price of Jet A-1 aviation fuel has been revised for the first time in a long period. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has officially announced a 19.12% reduction in the fuel price for international flights.

Bangladesh has long been among the countries with the highest aviation fuel prices, significantly higher than in neighboring markets. Despite a notable decline in global fuel prices, local rates remained unchanged, placing tremendous financial pressure on airlines operating in the country.

Turkish Airlines’ Dhaka Office proactively addressed the issue by initiating discussions with Padma Oil Company (the sole distributor), Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), and BERC. Throughout the process, sector-wide support came from key aviation organizations including the Board of Airlines Representatives (BAR), Airlines Operators Committee (AOC), and the Association of Aircraft Operators of Bangladesh (AOAB).

This important revision is expected to ease operational burdens on airlines and contribute to a more sustainable and competitive aviation environment in Bangladesh.

Turkish Airlines officials expressed their appreciation to all stakeholders, emphasizing that this outcome reflects the power of collaborative engagement and the airline’s commitment not only to service but also to driving progress in the industry.
