IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost carrier, has announced a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft as part of its strategy to expand long-haul capabilities. The deal also includes purchase rights for an additional 70 aircraft.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) event under the slogan “Towards New Heights & New Horizons,” highlighting the strong partnership between the two companies.

IndiGo’s relationship with Airbus deepened last year with a historic order of 500 aircraft from the A320neo family. The airline’s total order book now nears 1,000 aircraft, including A320neo, A321neo, and A321XLR models.

During the event, an Airbus representative began his remarks by thanking IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers, stating that this moment is significant not only for IndiGo but also for Airbus. “IndiGo’s incredible journey over the past 18 years in India is an inspiration to the entire aviation industry,” said Benoit. “At Airbus, we are proud to be a part of this success story as a dedicated partner to IndiGo.”
