IndiGo Pilots Suspended After Flight Enters Severe Hailstorm

Two pilots operating IndiGo flight #6E2142 from Delhi to Srinagar, aboard an Airbus A321neo registered VT-IMD, have been suspended after the aircraft encountered a severe hailstorm.

The aircraft, carrying 227 passengers, reportedly entered hazardous weather conditions and experienced a rapid descent of 8,500 feet per minute at one point. During the incident, the flight control systems issued multiple fault warnings. The DGCA noted that the pilots received both stall and overspeed alerts simultaneously.

Due to the emergency, a request was made to divert into Pakistani airspace, but Lahore ATC reportedly denied the request. A post-flight technical inspection revealed visible damage to the aircraft’s radome. The pilots have since been suspended.
