High Demand for Flights to St. Petersburg: Nearly 100 Departures from Turkey

High Demand for Flights to St. Petersburg: Nearly 100 Departures from TurkeyDifficulties in obtaining a Schengen visa have driven Turkish tourists to seek alternative destinations, and St. Petersburg, which offers the convenience of an e-visa, has emerged as a prominent choice. Recognized as Russia’s cultural capital, the city stands out with its historical atmosphere, architecture, museums, and cuisine.

Due to increasing passenger demand, Turkish Airlines (THY) began operating two of its three daily round-trip flights between Istanbul Airport and St. Petersburg with larger-body Airbus A330 aircraft as of August 2. This change offers passengers a more comfortable travel experience.

In addition to THY, Aeroflot also operates one daily flight from Istanbul, while Pegasus and AJet provide a total of three daily flights from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. THY also offers four weekly flights on its Antalya–St. Petersburg route, which is specific to the summer season. Furthermore, there are a total of 46 weekly charter flights from Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman to the city.

In total, there are 99 flights per week from Turkey to St. Petersburg. The Russian e-visa, which requires no physical documents and can be obtained with just a passport and a digital photo within four days, plays a significant role in the city’s increasing number of visitors.

Located at the crossroads of Europe and Russia, St. Petersburg stands out as an attractive alternative for culture, art, and gastronomy enthusiasts, offering visa-free travel opportunities.
