Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Thousands of Flights at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Heavy snowfall affecting much of Europe has caused the most severe operational disruptions at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Due to adverse weather conditions, more than 400 flights have been canceled today alone, while the total number of canceled flights over recent days has reportedly exceeded 2,600. In statements from the airport operator, it was noted that numerous snow-removal vehicles are working to keep runways and taxiways operational; however, heavy snowfall and low visibility have significantly impacted flight operations.

The cancellations have led to knock-on delays for both intra-European and intercontinental flights, with passengers being redirected to alternative services where possible. Depending on how weather conditions evolve, further operational disruptions at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport are expected in the coming hours.
