Heathrow Power Outage May Cost Up to $100 Million

London’s busiest airport, Heathrow, was nearly shut down for an entire day following a fire at a power substation.
🔷 During the unexpected outage, a total of 1,351 flights were scheduled, with approximately 291,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport.
🔷 At the time of the fire, more than 120 flights were already in the air—many were diverted to other airports or forced to return.
🔷 British Airways was the most affected airline, with around 677 flights cancelled, followed by Virgin Atlantic, which saw far fewer cancellations.
Preliminary estimates suggest the total cost of the disruption could reach $100 million, factoring in hotel accommodations, operational expenses, and other impacts.
