Free Water Service to Begin on Flights in Türkiye

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that a new regulation requiring airlines to provide passengers with free drinking water during flights has been introduced.
Minister Uraloğlu stated, “Through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, we have sent instructions to all passenger airlines mandating that at least 200 milliliters of drinking water must be provided free of charge to every passenger during the flight. Flight duration will not be taken into consideration within this regulation.”
Highlighting the importance of this decision for passenger comfort and flight safety, Uraloğlu said, “Especially in the summer months, during long waits, or when cabin ventilation is insufficient, passengers being deprived of water can lead to headaches, loss of concentration, and even medical emergencies. With this regulation, we aim to reduce health risks and improve flight satisfaction.”
Uraloğlu also pointed out international practices, adding, “Providing free drinking water to passengers will both increase passenger satisfaction and strengthen the international reputation of our airlines.”
