
India-based airline IndiGo has announced that former FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker will be appointed as an Independent Director on its Board, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval.
Whitaker, who stepped down from the FAA in January 2025, previously served as COO of Hyundai’s air mobility unit Supernal and as a senior executive at United Airlines overseeing international and regulatory affairs.
IndiGo CEO Rahul Bhatia highlighted Whitaker’s extensive public and private sector experience as a valuable asset to the airline’s safety and operational excellence goals. Whitaker expressed his enthusiasm about supporting IndiGo’s global growth ambitions.
