First Incident Involving the A321XLR

An A321XLR aircraft operated by Iberia Airlines, Spain’s flag carrier, was operating a Madrid – Paris flight when it suffered a bird strike shortly after takeoff.

Following the incident, the aircraft safely returned to Madrid.

The radome, antenna, and left engine sustained damage as a result of the bird strike. Iberia also uses this long-range aircraft for short-haul flights as part of pilot and crew training operations.
