Fifth 777-9 Test Aircraft Joins Flight Test Fleet

As part of the 777X program, Boeing has added a fifth test aircraft to its fleet. The 777-9, registered as N2007L, is performing its maiden flight today.
The aircraft is currently operating flight #BOE286 from Everett to Moses Lake.

This aircraft will be used for High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) testing during the FAA certification process. It will be the first new 777-9 test aircraft to take to the skies in nearly five years.

What is HIRF Testing? ❓

HIRF (High-Intensity Radiated Fields) testing is a certification test conducted to evaluate an aircraft’s resistance to high-intensity electromagnetic fields and to ensure its systems can operate safely under such conditions.
