FAA to Furlough Staff Amid Shutdown

Due to the U.S. government shutdown, the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that under its plan, around 10,000 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employees will be placed on mandatory unpaid leave.
Air traffic control services will continue without interruption, but many air traffic controllers will keep working without pay until the budget is approved. This situation is expected to cause slowdowns especially in operational planning and administrative processes.
