EVA Air has removed a captain from flight duties and launched an internal investigation after a fight broke out in the cockpit during taxi before departure at Los Angeles International Airport.
The incident occurred on a Boeing 777 aircraft in the EVA Air fleet that was preparing to operate a Los Angeles–Taipei flight. Allegedly, a disagreement between the captain and the first officer over taxi speed quickly escalated into a physical altercation. It was reported that after the first officer applied the brakes in line with standard procedures, the captain struck the other pilot several times.
Following the incident, EVA Air announced that the pilot involved had been taken off duty and that all data are being reviewed from a safety perspective. Taiwan’s aviation authorities have also launched a separate investigation to assess the impact of the घटना on flight safety.
