Engine Crisis at Airbus: 60 Aircraft Ready for Delivery, But Grounded

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has announced that over 60 aircraft are currently waiting on production lines due to engine supply issues. The company’s CEO, Guillaume Faury, highlighted the ongoing crisis during the presentation of the 2025 first-half financial results on Tuesday.

According to the statement, a total of 60 aircraft from the A320neo family — including the A320neo, A321neo, A321LR, and A321XLR models — have been completed across three different Airbus assembly lines. However, their delivery has been stalled due to the unavailability of 120 PW1100G engines, which are to be supplied by Pratt & Whitney.

The supply disruption stems from issues identified in materials used in the GTF engine family and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global supply chain. Despite these challenges, the company has not altered its goal to produce 75 A320neo aircraft per month by 2027.

Faury did not provide a clear timeline for when engine deliveries would return to normal. The crisis between Airbus and Pratt & Whitney continues to pose a significant barrier to new aircraft deliveries in the global aviation sector.
