Emirates anticipates receiving its first Boeing 777X wide-body aircraft by the end of 2026, according to Chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. The update follows earlier concerns raised by the airline about potential delays in the 2026 delivery timeline. With 205 aircraft on order, Emirates remains the largest customer for the 777X.
Due to delays in the 777X program, Emirates has launched a $5 billion retrofit initiative to modernize its existing fleet of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777-300ERs. Sheikh Al Maktoum confirmed that 90% of the airline’s fleet will be upgraded as part of the program.
