EgyptAir Takes Delivery of Its First Airbus A350-900

EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, becoming the launch operator of the type in North Africa. The aircraft is the first of 16 A350-900s on order and marks a key step in the airline’s long-haul fleet modernisation and network expansion strategy.

The new widebody aircraft will be deployed from Cairo on long-haul routes, including planned non-stop services to destinations such as the US West Coast and North Asia. EgyptAir currently operates a fleet consisting of A320neo, A321neo and A330 Family aircraft.

Configured in two classes, the A350-900 features 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access and 310 Economy Class seats. The aircraft is equipped with Airbus’ latest Airspace cabin, designed to enhance comfort for both passengers and crew on long-haul flights.

Airbus A350-900 offers a range of up to 9,700 nautical miles and delivers significant efficiency gains, including a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn, operating costs and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation aircraft. The A350 is also capable of operating with up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel, in line with Airbus’ long-term sustainability targets.

As of January 2026, the A350 Family has secured more than 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide.
