EASA Releases Sustainable Aviation Fuel Report

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published its ReFuelEU Aviation Report, revealing that in 2024, 0.6% of all jet fuel supplied at EU airports consisted of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This figure represents 193 kilotons of SAF, corresponding to the avoidance of approximately 714 kilotons of CO₂ emissions.
The agency announced that by 2025, airports serving more than 800,000 passengers per year—around 150 airports—will be required to reach a 2% SAF blending target. EASA emphasized that this milestone marks a critical step toward scaling up sustainable fuel use across Europe.
The report highlighted France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Germany as leaders in SAF supply, while most feedstocks originated from non-EU countries, primarily China (38%) and Malaysia (12%). EASA stated that the report serves as an important benchmark for achieving Europe’s sustainable aviation goals.
