Discussion: Moving to an Empty (Eco+) Seat $86

On United Airlines’ Houston–Honduras flight, some passengers seated in the economy section wanted to move to empty seats in the Economy Plus (extra legroom) area after boarding was completed. Although the plane was half full, ground services and the cabin crew demanded $86 per passenger for the seat change.
The cabin crew’s refusal to allow a free seat change caused reactions among passengers, while the fact that the empty seats remained unused drew attention. Images and comments shared on social media quickly sparked widespread attention. United Airlines stated that the policy aims to protect the rights of passengers who paid for extra legroom.
