Delta Postpones Scheduled Aircraft Deliveries Amid Tariff Dispute

Delta Air Lines has announced that it is reassessing upcoming aircraft deliveries in response to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, stating that it will not accept any aircraft subject to tariffs. CEO Ed Bastian emphasized, “We will not pay tariffs on any aircraft we receive. If necessary, we will postpone those deliveries.” He added that Delta is in open communication with Airbus and that the decision is essential for financial sustainability.

It remains unclear whether a passenger aircraft scheduled for delivery from Canada in June will be subject to the tariffs. Although the aircraft is expected to be exempt under a 2020 agreement, recent developments have created uncertainty.

The airline also announced that it will not expand its route network in the second half of 2025 due to economic uncertainty and weakening passenger demand. Delta noted that bookings, especially in the domestic economy segment, have fallen short of expectations, leading the company to withdraw its year-end profit forecast.
