Delta and Korean Air Become WestJet Shareholders, Air France-KLM Joins the Deal
Delta Air Lines and Korean Air have acquired a combined 25% stake in Canadian carrier WestJet, officially joining the airline’s shareholder structure. Delta invested $330 million for a 15% stake, while Korean Air contributed $220 million for a 10% stake. The shares will be purchased from WestJet’s parent company, private equity firm Onex.
As part of the agreement, Delta will transfer its 2.3% stake in WestJet to Air France-KLM for $50 million, enabling Air France-KLM to also become part of WestJet’s partnership network.
