Cyprus Raises Security Alert Amid Israel – Iran Crisis

Due to the escalating crisis following Israel’s strike on Iran, Cyprus has raised its security alert to the highest level. Extraordinary precautions were taken at both the military “Andreas Papandreou Air Base” and the civilian airport in Paphos, where multiple El Al passenger aircraft have been parked.

Greek Cypriot police forces have been assigned to protect Israeli tourists and companies. Security has also been increased at airports, ports, embassies, Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues, and shopping malls across the country. Officers were ordered to wear bulletproof vests and maintain 24-hour patrols. Jewish schools in Limassol remained empty due to safety concerns, and synagogues are now under special protection. Precautions were also intensified in areas with potential for protests.
