Contact Lost with ATR 42-500 in Indonesia

It has been reported that contact was lost with an ATR 42-500 aircraft in Indonesia and that wreckage images from a mountainous area have been shared.
The ATR 42-500 aircraft with registration PK-THT, operated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, disappeared from radar near Makassar. There were a total of 11 people on board—8 crew members and 3 passengers. According to radar data, the aircraft was flying at low altitude over the sea in an area with limited radar coverage. The last signal was reportedly received at 04:20 UTC, about 20 kilometers northeast of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. Locally, contact was said to have been lost at around 13:17.
Images shared on social media show pieces of wreckage found in the mountainous terrain around the area. According to initial information, the aircraft disappeared from radar shortly after receiving a route instruction from air traffic control during its approach to Makassar. Indonesian authorities have not yet made an official statement, but search and rescue teams in Makassar have been dispatched to the region.
