China’s C919 serves first overseas commercial chartered flight

A China Eastern Airlines C919 jetliner commenced its first overseas commercial chartered flight on Saturday, providing a round-trip service between Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Flying from the Hong Kong International Airport to the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on Saturday morning, the jetliner carried more than 100 young Hong Kong talents.

The 6. C919 joined the CEA fleet on Tuesday, indicating the acceleration of commercial operation of China’s homegrown large passenger aircraft. This came one year after the first C919 flight was made. With its self-developed trunk jetliner, China aims to secure a share of the global civil aviation market currently dominated by Boeing and Airbus.
