Chicago O’Hare Mix-Up Triggers $105K Fine

Car Wrongfully Registered Under Ex-Girlfriend’s Name Accumulates $105,000 Fine at Chicago O’Hare Airport
In 2008, a man living in Chicago bought a car for $600 and registered it under his ex-girlfriend’s name before leaving it in the parking lot at O’Hare Airport. The vehicle remained in the lot for years, and the city continued issuing fines every day. The tickets eventually totaled 678, and the debt rose to $105,000.
Unaware of the penalty notices issued for the car registered under her name, the woman was confronted with a debt exceeding one hundred thousand dollars, leading to a major legal battle.
