Chicago O’Hare Is Set to Become a “Super Airport”

Chicago O’Hare Airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar modernization aimed at completely transforming the passenger experience. Known for long lines and outdated infrastructure, the airport will soon feature new business lounges, relaxation areas, family play zones, sleep pods, facilities for passengers with special needs, and entertainment options such as mini golf.
A centerpiece of the project is the newly constructed Terminal D, built with a $730 million investment. The terminal will include 19 boarding gates, 30,000 square meters of retail space, and 20,000 square meters of lounge areas. In the future, a new international terminal designed by renowned architect Jeanne Gang is also planned.
Airport authorities emphasize that the upgrades are focused on enhancing passenger comfort and clarify that O’Hare will not become an entertainment-focused venue.
