California Man Lives at Airport, Commutes to Work by Plane

Test pilot Joe Sobczak lives in a home on the edge of the runway at Pine Mountain Lake Airport in California and flies approximately 185 kilometers to his workplace every day in his own T-34A aircraft. Sobczak says this method not only saves time but also eliminates the risks associated with traffic congestion.
His home is located within a “Residential Air Park” designed for aviation enthusiasts. About 90 other homes in the area also have hangars, and neighbors use shared radio frequencies to coordinate their flights.
Sobczak pays $4,000 a month for the property, which he purchased in 2017 for $698,000.
