British Airways Sues Ground Services Company

British Airways has filed a lawsuit against the ground services company Ground Services International (a subsidiary of Dnata) following an accident at Chicago O’Hare Airport.
The incident occurred in September 2019, when mobile stairs operated by an employee under the influence of drugs struck the wing of the Boeing 747 aircraft preparing for the BA294 flight to London. The employee left the scene without making any report.
As the collision caused serious damage to the right wing, the aircraft was withdrawn from service and the flight was canceled. Passengers were accommodated in hotels by British Airways and transferred to flights the following day.
The airline stated that it suffered losses exceeding $228,000 due to repairs and operational disruptions, adding that hotel expenses, lost revenues, hangar fees, and legal costs were also included. BA said that despite all its demands, the damages were not compensated and therefore filed a lawsuit against the company.
