British Airways Launches Starlink Era:

British Airways Launches Starlink Era: First Equipped Aircraft Is Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJJ

British Airways announced that the first aircraft in its fleet equipped with Starlink internet infrastructure has entered service. According to the airline, the initial aircraft to receive the system is the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner registered G-ZBJJ.

In a statement shared via social media on March 18, 2026, British Airways confirmed that the Starlink installation process has been launched across the fleet. Once the rollout is completed, passengers will be able to access complimentary Starlink connectivity throughout the flight, regardless of cabin class.

According to AeroTime, the Boeing 787-8 registered G-ZBJJ has begun operating on North America and India routes following the installation. With this move, British Airways has effectively implemented the connectivity transformation plan it announced last year.

The airline also released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing the process. In its statement, British Airways emphasized that the Starlink integration is not merely a simple cabin update but a major engineering modification involving structural work, wiring, software integration, and comprehensive testing procedures.

The airline described the milestone as a significant achievement from an engineering perspective and confirmed that the Starlink-supported upgrade will be gradually extended to the rest of the fleet.
