Boeing 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10 Certification Delayed to 2026

The certification process for Boeing’s 737 MAX 7 and the stretched MAX 10 has been postponed to at least 2026. Both the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have issued new safety advisories due to overheating and smoke leakage risks identified in the LEAP-1B engines’ anti-icing system.
Boeing has announced it is working on software updates, documentation revisions, and redesigns of the affected valves. However, no final solution has been implemented yet.
This delay in certification prolongs uncertainty for major airlines such as United, Delta, Ryanair, American Airlines, and Southwest, which have significant orders for the MAX 7 and MAX 10 variants.
