ATC Disruption at Newark: 90-Second Comm Loss

ATC Safety Breach at Newark Airport: Communication Lost for Up to 90 Seconds
On April 28, a serious air traffic control disruption occurred at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Due to a telecommunications and equipment failure at the TRACON facility in Philadelphia, radar and radio contact with several aircraft was completely lost for 60 to 90 seconds. In response, the FAA temporarily suspended all departures.
The incident caused significant stress among air traffic controllers, with some staff reportedly taking leave afterward.
