An Il-76 Military Transport Aircraft Overran the Runway in Krasnoyarsk

A Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft overran the runway in Krasnoyarsk after making an emergency landing due to an engine failure.
The aircraft had taken off from Krasnoyarsk International Airport (KJA/UNKL) bound for Ulan-Ude, but shortly after departure the crew reported engine trouble. They diverted to the nearby Cheremshanka Airport (KCY/UNKM), which has a runway length of 1,800 meters, compared to the 3,700-meter runway at the international airport. No official explanation has been given as to why Cheremshanka was chosen for the landing.
Following the emergency landing, the aircraft came to a stop about 50 meters beyond the runway. There were no injuries reported. The airport was temporarily closed, and experts from the Russian Investigative Committee have begun examining the site.
