Algeria–UAE Air Services Pact Ends

The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria has announced that it has launched the official and legal process to terminate the air services agreement signed with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). No reason was given for the cancellation of the agreement, which was originally signed on May 13, 2013.

Currently, the only direct route between the two countries operates between Algiers (ALG) and Dubai (DXB). A total of 14 weekly flights are scheduled on this route. Emirates operates seven weekly flights with Boeing 777 aircraft, while Air Algérie also flies seven times a week using its newly added Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways was known to be planning to launch four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Algiers with Airbus A321LR aircraft. However, how this plan will be affected by the current termination process remains unclear.
